Extensions 101

Extensions used to be a fashion so foreign to me. After years of bleaching my hair in my high school glory days, my hair refused to grow any further. My ends were split beyond repair, and only time could mend the damage I had been putting my hair through time after time. I did alot of research on extensions, and finally found something I couldn't take my eyes off of: Halo Couture. The extensions go on like a headband, and you simply pull your hair over the fishwire line with a comb. They were real, easy, beautiful... but definitely not affordable. I decided to take the risk, and my hair stylist color matched me to a 16 inch set of long blonde extensions. I was obsessed with them, and still am!

As I have taken a year off of wearing them now that my hair is longer and healthier, they reside peacefully in my vanity. I still wear them from time to time, to add thickness. I even made the bold move of cutting them (don't even ask me how I made them look normal, and not like a seven year old got ahold of scissors). There can be many pros and cons to investing in extensions for your hair, depending on what type you get, so I've created a list below! :

Pros:

- Hair looks longer

- Hair looks healthier

- Adds thickness

- Easy to maintain

- Last a long time

- Color-matched to your hair color

- Well hidden

Cons:

- Expensive

- Tape or clip-ins can be obvious

- Can pull on your actual hair

- Not suitable for very thin hair
