Surrealism

When it comes to art, my interests extend pretty far - watercolors, acrylics, pottery, architecture, interior design, sculpture, fashion design... you name it. When it comes to my personal preferences for producing art, my favorite has always been Surrealism. Surrealism is a form of artwork that focuses on the creative potential of the unconscious mind. The art is very irrational and unrealistic, proportions usually distorted.

I could never really answer the question of how I come up with certain things (such as the strange pieces below), I just take an odd thought and run with it. I like to combine acrylic and ink mediums to create contrast and vivid colors that stand out against each other on the canvas.

This year I've made a personal commitment to myself to try to keep up with my passion for art, even despite my stressful nursing school schedule. Art to me has always been a form of therapy. Breaking out all of my paints and blasting alternative music through my Alexa removes a weight off of my shoulders that few other things can do.

Below are a few random fashion design and surrealism pieces I created at the end of 2018!
