Skies on Fire

One thing that I believe truly connects humans is the mutual appreciation for a beautiful sunset. When you catch them at the most perfect hour; skies filled with blue and vibrant streaks of orange, pink and purple. Sunsets may seem like such a simple concept or occurrence to most, but to me they hold a deeper and more valuable meaning. I find peace and relaxation in the serenity of the sky, a type of calm that does not just come naturally.

Overall, a beautiful sunset reminds me to stop what I'm doing and recognize that life is constantly moving at sonic speed. Overdue assignments, obligations, expectations, maintained relationships, jobs and daily routines are many of the things in life that disrupt our brains from slowing down and taking a breather. Just for a minute, it's important to stop and smell the roses, to appreciate the little things in life that bring us happiness. The colors of the sky remind me to value the beauty of the world I live in, and my very small place within it. It reminds me that there are much bigger things in life than what may seem gargantuan at the moment.

Whether it's a tropical island, cold michigan winter or a completely different continent, the sunset is a reminder that every day can end beautifully.
