Never in my 20 years in Michigan have I seen winter weather as unforgiving as this year... Hearing my parents complain about the conditions on the east side of the state is almost comical considering how hard the west side got hit by the lake effect. Due to the fact that Grand Valley received almost 5 feet of snow in a 48 hour span, we had not only one snow day but an entire WEEK. This was amazing yet completely unexpected as GVSU is notorious for not calling off classes...ever. An earthquake, hurricane and tornado could hit our school simultaneously and it would probably still be open for classes. So as any other college student would've done during this blessing, we picked up some White Claws from the liquor store and had ourselves a party.
The snow storm had perfect timing I'll admit as it moved an exam I was dreading, and allowed me to recover from a brutal sinus infection. Although it was nice to have an entire week to recoup and relax, it did mess with my entire nursing program schedule. (But do I regret a week of no school? Hell no). Thank you to my best friends for making weeks like this the ones that I will never forget from our college years.
